I emailed the developers recently to ask about compability with Rift, and received a reply it would be in the New Year. Today i had another reply it was now ready for Rift, so downloaded and tried using. Multiple attempts to start failed; I got an image of two glowing orbs and then minutes of blackness whilst a loading screen on the computer monitor slowly went to 100%. However after getting to 100% still nothing happened, i closed the app and tried several times. I eventually shut Steam down, restarted Oculus, restarted Steam as administrator and it finally started. However, performance was poor with latency and glitching. I'm using a top end PC (8086K/RTX2080Ti) so not a lack of resources, tried turning off supersampling, restarting, but made no difference. Just seems poorly optimised for Rift. Disappointed as i was looking forward to this for months, but Steam were timely in quickly processing my refund request. WOW, when is the next part out, These movie volumetric video's, need to be supported, the future of movies is astonishing. I can't wait till they produce full blockbuster movies in these formats. The immersion level is something else. Loved it, can't wait for more.. My first refund. Those 20 minutes of Awake: Episode One present very little of the story and most of the scenes are shown in its Steam Trailer. And this "photo-realistic" visuals are just awful when it comes to human characters: they run right into uncanny valley and stay there. Even in static faces look very weird and in motion things get 10 times worse. Maybe VR should stick to stylized visuals in this generation of technology). This is the new benchmark and a must see. It is beautifully layered on so many levels - music composition, art direction, story and on a technical level with its volumetric capture - its stunning. Hopefully this piece will inspire other creatives to strive beyond what they think is possible.. 10\/10 for the tech demo - the future of storytelling is here6\/10 for the story If you have 10 minutes and 5 dollars to burn, then why not watch thisThings to add for the user:Re-center button for seated usersOr... the old grip and drag posistioning system would work as wellFound myself in an awkward posistion a few times, and didnt feel like getting up and moving around. By far the best 6 Australian dollars i have spent in VR. I thank the creators for this. Awesome in depth story along with innovative work with virtual reality. I was and am still hoping for a sequel to The Final Hours and this adds one more to my list! I BEG FOR MORE!!!!. Freaky 25 minute experience with some interesting visual techniques - looks great except the eyes of the characters which are flat and lifeless.Worth the price ? That depends on your interest in VR entertainment and financial situation. Patch update 1.0.3 - Full Oculus Rift support!: New update with official Oculus Rift support.
